RIO
Lovely and kind, Rio came to us a few years ago. She has been a broodmare her entire life. She is papered and with beautiful conformation; she was used to provide many foals to many people.
Rio found herself needing a place to go. She was homeless and getting on in age. Upon her arrival, she immediately settled in. We could practically hear her sigh of relief. We sent her over a couple of pastures down to keep horses company (when their companions were out under saddle, on the trails) and to enjoy grazing. Last year we brought her home to the sanctuary, and you could see the vacancy in her eyes. Where is my home? Where do I belong? What is my purpose? Rio taught us yet another lesson in the sentience of horses. She had been shuffled around, and without any reassurance or guidance, she was definitely at a loss. Denna went to work, providing her understanding, reassurance, and a promise. She was now home for life. Proud to be part of the sanctuary herd, Rio is delighted to finally be, home. |
