MEET MOLLIE
Mollie was pulled off the Fallon Feed/Kill lot in Fallon, Nevada in 2014.
A woman called us crying saying she had rescued yet another severely traumatized mare and that she was untouchable. Her husband was furious and wanted her gone. She feared for Mollie’s safety, as who would take this mare in her condition? She was now at significant risk of ending up in the slaughterhouse pipeline. Did we mention she was in foal? PMR took Mollie in and could appreciate that she was indeed extremely vulnerable. Frightened, sad, and wary, she was pastured in the lower pasture where she would have room to settle in. Mollie foaled a beautiful dove gray filly three weeks later. We felt a feedlot foal needed a fancy name, and so Taloulah Mae was welcomed into the PMR family. And Taloulah Mae, now called Taloulah Moon is living her best life here in Santa Cruz County. Nine years later Mollie has made enormous strides in learning to trust. She has a very important role in our therapeutic and healing programs. |
